At Life & Death Silks, we don’t just talk about sustainability—we’re committed to it. Here's how we’re minimizing our environmental footprint and what we plan to improve.

We believe in crafting timeless accessories from biodegradable fabrics like silk, meaning no harmful plastic waste or microfibres polluting our oceans or land. We don’t follow the rush of fast fashion or the constant churn of seasonal trends. Instead, we focus on creating heirloom-quality pieces designed to be passed down for generations, not discarded after a few seasons.

In our quest to reduce our impact, we utilize digital textile printing—a process that uses less water, produces less waste, and eliminates the need for toxic chemicals compared to traditional printing methods. With its precise color matching, we often print perfectly on the first attempt, minimizing material waste and sampling.

Our packaging is made from recycled cardboard, reinforcing our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint in every step of the process.

While we’re proud of these steps, we recognize that no production method is entirely impact-free. That’s why we’ve partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant a tree for every product purchased on our website. This initiative helps reduce carbon emissions, supports wildlife diversity, and provides meaningful work for local communities. It’s our way of offsetting the small environmental impact of manufacturing.

What’s next? We’re always pushing to do more. While we currently use virgin materials for the highest quality, we’re exploring how we can incorporate deadstock and reclaimed materials into our products. We’re also researching circular materials to create products that are even more sustainable. Stay tuned for these exciting updates!
